spaceTEAMS
spaceTEAMS Academy is a 4th-8th grade STEM (science, technology, engineering and
mathematics) pipeline program delivered in San Antonio during the Spring and Summer of
2006. The program anticipates delivery in San Antonio through 2015.
spaceTEAMS is based on the transdiscipliary model of education where:
1) MECHATRONICS delivers applied computer science, industrial design, mathematics,
engineering and physics.
2) CORE delivers academic and career planning, San Antonio's 96 year history of innovation
(applied arts, sciences and technology) and space science in the context of the Mars Mission
(Target 2030).
3) PEERING UP TEAMS partners experienced robotocists students with new comers across
the K-PhD pipeline enabling student mentor-teachers to form a pipeline of those willing to
teach others.
4) PATH = mechatronics, biotronics and finally nanobionics
Summer Camp
20XX
The spaceTEAMS Summer Camp culminated on Friday July 21, 2006 at
Northwest Vista College; with robotics competitions in 2 tracks. One in EARLY, for
Elementary students and one in Botball, for Middle-School students. The links on
this page to a short video that covers some of the activities leading up to the
competition and the photos of the same period only tell some of the story. It will be
hard to capture the excitement not only of the students, but of their parents as well.
Please continue to check back with us as this will be a living web site dedicated to
the spaceTEAMS' events and evolution.
